407 Survey of Rhinitis Phenotypes

چکیده
agnosed children and adults, respectively, were: 13 and 15 times greater for acute respiratory infection; 6 and 9 times greater for otitis media; 6 and 8 times greater for asthma; 6 and 12 times greater for upper respiratory infection; 5 and 8 times greater for conjunctivitis; 5 times greater (both children and adults) for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease/allied conditions; 5 and 8 times greater for strep throat; 4 and 3 times greater for pneumonia/influenza; and 4 and 9 times greater for atopic dermatitis. Differences between ARversus nonAR-diagnosed groups and between children and adults were significant at the P , 0.001 level. Conclusions: Compared to their counterparts who were not diagnosed with AR, children and adults with AR had a significantly greater likelihood for receiving any targeted comorbid allergy-related respiratory condition. Likelihood estimates, which were 3 to 15 times greater for AR-diagnosed patients, varied significantly for children and adults by specific comorbid condition. Given a diagnosis of AR, the likelihood for comorbid respiratory infection, asthma, otitis media, conjunctivitis, atopic dermatitis and strep throat was substantially greater for adults; the likelihood for pneumonia/ influenza was greatest for children; and the likelihood for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease/allied condition was roughly equivalent for the 2 age groups.

Association of Haptoglobin Phenotypes with Serum Levels of IgE and IgA in Allergic Rhinitis Patients
Background: Allergic rhinitis (AR) is an allergic disorder of the nasal tissue that underlies diseases such as sinusitis, otits and asthma. Different predisposing factors including immunological and non-immunological factors contribute to the disease pathogenesis. Objective: To investigate association of haptoglobin (Hp) phenotypes (Hp1-1, 2-1 and 2-2) with serum immunoglobulins A and E levels ...
متن کاملInterleukin 13 and interleukin 4 receptor-α polymorphisms in rhinitis and asthma.
BACKGROUND Asthma and rhinitis may represent two manifestations of the same airway disease. Genetic research can increase our understanding of their common or distinct pathogenesis. IL13 and IL4R polymorphisms are associated with asthma and show gene-gene interaction in asthma. Their role in rhinitis has not been extensively studied. METHODS Association of IL13 and IL4R polymorphisms in relat...
متن کاملSurvey on the Prevalence of Allergic Rhinitis and its Effect on the Quality of High School Students’ Life
Introduction: Allergic rhinitis (AR) is a common airway disease. In order to study the prevalence of AR in high school students in Kerman, the Score for Allergic Rhinitis (SFAR) was used and the quality of life in the students affected by rhinitis was evaluated using the SF-36 questionnaire. Materials and Methods: This was a cross-sectional, analytical, descriptive study, based o...
متن کاملSurvey on the Prevalence of Allergic Rhinitis in Junior High School Students in Isfahan, Iran
Background Allergic rhinitis (AR) is a common form of nose inflammatory disease that occurs when the mucosal immune system overreacts to environmental allergens especially in the air. It’s absolutely clear that the prevalence of AR varies between different countries, and even between the various areas of a country. The purpose of present investigation is to determine the prevalence of AR, as mo...
متن کاملPreparation of a Paeonol-Containing Temperature-Sensitive In Situ Gel and Its Preliminary Efficacy on Allergic Rhinitis
In this paper, the optimal composition of a paeonol temperature-sensitive in situ gel composed of poloxamer 407 (P407) was determined, and a preliminary study of its effect on allergic rhinitis was performed. The optimal composition of the paeonol temperature-sensitive in situ gel included 2% paeonol inclusion, 22% P407, 2% poloxamer 188 (P188) and 2% PEG6000, as assessed by thermodynamic and r...
